Aight, first up is new shit from 8thW1, a really dope emcee whom I believe is from Jersey...his latest mixtape Crazy 8s dropped on the 8th of this month (8/8/08...get it?) The thing i love about this dude is that he's lyrical but still doesnt take himself too seriously..hes not a wannabe drug pusher or a thug..hes a real dude talkin about some real life shit...definitely check out the track "Fools Lullaby" (thats my fav on the mixtape)

Next up my homie Trayo out of Las Vegas recently dropped his Lyrically Handsome mixtape. Dude is really starting to make a name for himself these days. He's even slated to be featured on a few tracks for Khrysis' highly anticipated next mixtape "Khrysis on the boards with the heat vol 2". He's doing some big thangs, and rightfully so. highly versatile, each track on the mixtape brings different vibe, from the hard-hitting to the laid back...dude can even sing! lol Be sure to peep the link to the mixtape, my personal fav tracks are "Cant Wait", "gimme ya love" and "what we do" featuring Vegas' own Sedrew Price.

ATCQ's "Scenario" was one of my fav song from the 90s..and lo and behold...look at what hit the net recently? the ORIGINAL unreleased demo version of the classic track...includiing a verse from De La Soul's Pos, Black Sheep, and L.O.N.S
enjoy.
Much like my borderline unhealthy obsession with 80's Prince....
i LOOOOVE mid-seventies Bootsy Collins!!!!!!!!!!! Dude is so funky I bet he paid someone to walk behind him with an air-freshener (as Ive witnessed Prince have someone do to him in concert a few years back lol)...plus the 70s were a dope time in general..i really wish I could have experienced some of that. Bootsy is SERIOUSLY slept on whenever I hear people talking about the best guitarits of all time...do i think he is #1? nope. but hes definitely on the top 10 list....peep this:
not to mention how Hilarious I find it that he forever was talkin about cum..." spread your lil wings and let me cum all inside of u....can i drip baby?" hows that for swag? lol.
Ive never seen Bootsy live...and part of me wants to but i highly doubt it would be the same..especially seeing as how although bootsy looked impossibly cool in that video...he now just looks like someone's old ,pervy, delusional uncle they keep locked in the attic untill special occasions like christmas and funerals
*shrugs* oh well.
Hi everyone......
My name is Aliya...and I'm a music snob.
**everyone says in unison** "HI ALIYA."
I can't help it. I love being the first to have the new shit by the legendary artist MONTHS in advance...or the best shit from the most obscure "who the fuck is this?!?" guy....or being the ONLY one to hear the original (and way better) version of track 16 that never made MC Such n Such's album..a certain secret rush of pleasure and excitement always goes through me when i hear my DJ/Producer/MC/Insider friends say "keep this close to you" as they slip me an unmarked CD-R...not to mention i love the fact that those who know me all know im trustworthy enough to keep shit close when im told to.
then, of course, there are other times *like right now* that I'm given new music that doesn't really need to be kept under wraps...free to share with the world like love in the early 70s...and who could pass up free lovin in the 70s?...not me...even if i WAS born in '84 lol...
And with that said....my FAVORITE producer right now (flying lotus) x everyones FAVORITE rapper right now besides mine lol (Lil Wayne) = really fantastic eargams

enjoy my loves
what up fam?
so...I've always been a fan of supporting local Hip Hop...whether it was back home in Boston with Salvador & Dewla (more on them later...) or now in my new stomping ground of Las Vegas....if there are supposed to be 100 people at the show; imma be there if I can....if there are only 10 people at the spot? imma still be there if i can..that's just how i roll...
In either case...if you dont know, now u know: vegas' own SEDREW PRICE just released his Rap or Die mixtape (mixed by DJ Slimm) According to my sweetheart Shake over at 2dopeboyz.com, After this, theres another mixptape (with all original production) dropping in August and his debut LP dropping at the end of the year. Ya'll should check it out cuz he's dope...judge for yourself
i iz slightly komputer elliterate so i have no clue how to upload the actual mixtape for your listening pleasures.... instead ill direct all traffic to shake&Meka at 2dopeboyz: http://2dopeboyz.com/2008/07/03/sedrew-price-rap-or-die-v15-hosted-by-dj-slimm-mixtape/
enjoy the long weekend people....after being hit up by multiple ppl on myspace telling me I need to blog more, ive decided to start getting better with that...I'm revamping my whole shit this month...stay tuned for the goodies ;)

So what's everyones thoughts on this "interesting" Flashing Lights video????
i definitely wasnt expecting the ending....
A set of British twins who were separated at birth went on to marry each other without realizing they were related, the UK Press Association reported Friday. The brother and sister, who were adopted by separate parents, were given an annulment after a High Court judge ruled that the marriage had never been valid. Their identities and details of their relationship have been kept secret, but the Press Association reported that the duo did not find out that they were blood relatives until after they were married. David Alton, a member of the House of Lords, revealed their situation as a way of highlighting perceived shortcomings in the Human Embryology and Tissues Bill which is now going through Britain's Parliament. He first heard of the twins' marriage in a conversation with a High Court judge, and initially raised the case in a House of Lords debate on December 10. Alton said: "(The brother and sister) met later in life and felt an inevitable attraction, and the judge had to deal with the consequences of the marriage that they entered into and all the issues of their separation. "I suspect that it will be a matter of litigation in the future if we do not make information of this kind available to children who have been donor-conceived." Alton is concerned that the new bill would allow the biological identity of one parent to be removed from the birth certificate, PA reported, and that there would be no way for the child to know if they had been donor-conceived. He told PA on Friday: "The state is colluding in a deception. We are opening the door to more cases like this one. One of the most fundamental things of all is to know who you are. The issue here is about human rights. "A birth certificate that omits any mention of your true origin falsifies your history in a very significant way." *from Perezhilton.com
I think it's pretty undisputable that regardless of if you still yearn for the days or yesteryear or not, the 90's were the golden age of rap music. Some people still listen to more vintage rap than current artists, while others believe that living in the past makes people musically stagnant and unable to innovate. I lay somewhere in the crossroads....
But the interesting thing I just thought about that inspired this blog is that the 90s were much more than rap's golden era....it was popular music's golden era as a whole. Alternative, R&B, rock, etc...it was all pretty dope in the 90's. I'm sure there will be at least one of you that criticizes my taste of non- Hip Hop nostalgia...frankly, my darlings, i do not give a damn :) Obviously, this is in no way a definitive list (just the first few that came to mind) , but Behold, 7 of my fav non-rap songs from the 90s. enjoy!
i must admit. I'm depressed.
Me, my boyfriend and our son moved to vegas from the east coast over the summer and I dont think it's hit me until just now. I just went home last month for a funeral, so I couldnt do the cross-country trip again a few weeks later. Now, While all my brothers and other family members are coming together, exchanging gifts and making memories, I'm way the hell out here. alone :(
I never really realized how much having family around for the holidays is untill now. I never thought twice about it while I was sitting infront of my parents fireplace opening gifts. Hell, even though I'm loving the 60degree weather in vegas, I even kinda miss the holiday snow.
But, as always I must find a silver lining and be happy for the things I DO have....my health, my son (who will be celebrating his very 1st Christmas!), my loving boyfriend....even you guys who read my blogs. Ofcourse HUGE shout out to Andreas and Jake for being the best damn editors EVER. They really make this place what it is: A second home for all of us music lovers.
So I just wanted to take a second and tell everyone how much I appreciate them....the writers who keep banging out the great interviews (Melanie, William, Kevin...etc)...the bloggers who keep me entertained with thought-provoking material, silly youtube clips, and heated debates (amanda, meka, Brill, Burnett etc).... the tech ppl that keep us spam free from the internet thug-terrorists, Shake for always being onpoint with the graphics, Lexx for holding down the DX myspace page and so much more, and ofcourse the readers, i appreciate you all...even the ones who talk shit. If I didnt piss off at least some of you than I wouldnt be any good at what I do.
So tomorrow, while you are all with friends and family, be sure to appreciate everyone thats around you...cuz we never seem to appreciate what we got till its gone.
Happy holidays fam. be safe and take care :)
have a funky funky christmas (c) NKOTB
OH! and PS. Big happy bday shoutout to my boy Skyzoo!
Before I start this...wtf is up with blogs these days? Why cant anyone bang out 200 comments anymore? Even Meka hasn't had a high comment post in quite some time. Its like how in the music industry everyone is downloading and no one is buying....in blogs, people are still reading but no one comments...wtf?
Anyway....
Guess who's Bizzack?
Yes, it's lil ol me, The First Lady of DX (and you kno that's with no disrespect to my wonderfully talented homegirls on this site...I only playfully call myself that cuz, well, I was here 1st lol). In either case, I'm back from my hiatus after the death of my grandfather(R.I.P Daddy Ira) and feeling a whole lot better. Big shout out to all of those who wished me well during my period of mourning.
Lots has happened since I last reached out to you guys, namely, I think I've given up on large concerts/ music festivals. Let me explain. This past summer I was at the San Fran Rock The Bells with the rest of the DX Crew, hawking Mixtapes and T-shirts. The vibe was cool and it was great putting faces to names, but the REAL reason I was there was for the music...which could barely be heard or seen. The crowds were so massive that it was damn near impossible to see the stage. And if Im gonna look at the big screen monitor the whole time then I might as well watch video clips on YouTube. Ontop of that,The 3 stages were way too close together, creating a clusterfuck of sounds that was more of a headache than anything else. The only way the sound was clear was if you were deep inside of the crowd which posed yet another problem: funk. Not the type of old school Bar-Kays funk that has you bobbin your head and makin faces like someone just farted...I mean REAL funk.Because someone actually DID just fart. Sweaty, funky, crotch-rot stanky people. Not a good look. Plus, the drinks were crazy overpriced.
So me and my girl (shout out to Dohee) found a bar directly across the street behind the main stage and camped out there for awhile: decent priced drinks, considerably less funky folks, and an outside veranda from which I could clearly still hear the music from main stage. Word. But if I wanted to listen, and not watch, I coulda popped in a CD/tape/ MP3....So for that reason, despite the dope line-up, I wasn't really feelin RTB.
I apparently am no longer Hip Hop. I'll say it before Meka does lol.
So fast fwd to a few weeks ago when me and my girl Dohee meet up again for another music festival, this time on my home turf (vegas) , not hers (san fran). We show up to Vegoose (which also had a dope lineup may I add: Public Enemy, Cypress Hill, Theivery Corporation, Muse, Daft Punk and a whole bunch of others) ready for the entertainment. The festival was in a large barren desert field, so space wasn't a problem, the 3 stages were well spaced and sounds thankfully didn't mingle. But in order to really SEE the band playing, you still had to endure the funk of forty-thousand years © Michael Jackson's Thriller. Has no one heard of basic personal hygene? Right Guard? Soap?
Let me break-down some science real quick. Contrary to popular belief, sweat does NOT smell. However, when sweat comes into contact with large amounts of bacteria on ones' body, it results in a foul odor. Everyone's body has at least some minute level of bacteria on there body (its natural) Therefore, shower + deodorant= little/ no funk.
But moving on...
we decided to push and shove our way through the thousands of smelly, drunk concert goers to be only a few yards from Daft Punk. The show was dope, I cant even front. It was actually almost worth the fact that a large hairy man next to me took off his shirt mid-concert and began to thrash back and forth, his gut swaying like a pendulum until it finally brush against my cheek leaving a slimy residue. Almost. But all in all, I had a good time.
But then it happened.
The one thing that set me over the edge and made me vow to never go to a large concert ever again in life.
Daft finished their set and We were slowly filing out to the front entrance. The crowd was still thick as hell, but at least I could feel the nighttime air whisking away the foul smelling odors that suffocated me in the crowd. Out of my peripheral vision I saw him. It was too crowded for me to tell exactly what he looked like, but he looked suspicious and I couldn't tell why. Then he did it. As he quickly walked past me he reached his hand underneath my dress and grabbed a full handful of my ass.
Then he ran like hell.
And I'm was lucky he did or I would have gone to jail for battery that night. I immediately flashed back to a disgusting story of my past that I don't enjoy talking about. Long story made short, at 16 years old I went to a LOX/ Eve/DMX co
