I'm still resizing my pics from the BHF but in the meantime, here's a little footage. The clips aren't as long as I would have liked but I was working with my digicam so I had to save memory. But anyway, enjoy, and I'll post some pics later:

I turned my camera off then I realized, "Oh shit, there goes Cappadonna!"
I was too close to the speakers (in case you were wondering) so that's why it sounds muffled.

Last week was bananas! I did a lot of running around from Tuesday through Saturday, and I got the pics and details to prove it.
The crazy week started out on Tuesday with a Twista listening session. His album, Adrenaline Rush 2007 is due out in August. Basically, the title is a throwback to his debut, Adrenaline Rush, because a lot of the album has an old school Twista/Midwest sound. He has guest appearances by Pharell (Give it Up, the vid is dropping soon), Bone Thugs, etc. For the most part, it's a really beat driven album, but overall, I thought it was aight. Opinions seemed to be mixed. Out of a room full of 7 people, I managed to get about 3 opinions. One out of the three thought it was really good, the second thought it was aight (as in not great but not horrible, such as myself), and the last person thought it was straight garbage. I wouldn't go that far, but to each is own. You'll be the judge when it drops. One thing about the album, that I think is bananas is the introduction of "Juke Music" to the rest of the world. Apparently, "Juke Music" is really big in Chi-Town. It basically sounds like chopped and screwed mixed with club music. Describing it probably doesn't do it justice, but I think it's dope. They're not sure whether they're going to drop the particular single that is Juke Music, but it's a possibility. Plus, the sound has also been picked up by TVT because they were feeling what they heard through Twista's stuff. We'll see...
Wednesday was all about Pharoahe Monch's listening session. Desire drops this Tuesday and it's a classic folks! He's also a real cool dude. I chatted it up with him a little bit and I couldn't help but like him. I hope he does well despite the fact that he's very slept on. Such is life, I suppose.
And now on to the visual shit...
I went to a party on Thursday called "Smirnoff Presents In the Mix," which was a celebration of some of the most talented producer/DJs Hip-Hop has ever seen. Pete Rock, 9TH Wonder and DJ Premier were spinning under one roof for what turned out to be a dope party. It was hosted by Ed Lover and the highlight was when 9TH brought out Buckshot, who performed a joint they have together, but of couse, "I Gotcha Opin" too. And, the free drinks all night via Smirnoff had everybody crazy nice. Here are the pics (interviews from that night are coming soon):

Friday was whatever. There wasn't anything going on, but Saturday was the Third Annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival featuring Ghostface. I didn't want to make this blog too long so I'll post those pics up tomorrow (or later on today).

With so much talk about Jayonce these days, we forgot about Nalis. However, TV producers didn't. Here's a sneak peak of their upcoming reality TV show:
The preview is kind of lame, but it's in its rough stages. I'm not sure when this is expected to air or even, what channel (although I have my guesses) but I'd watch it.

It's the F-A-B-O...whether you like him or not, this article actually shows a bit more to Fab than a lot of people probably thought, mainly because of drawl (well, I at least, learned that he's smarter than I thought for that same reason). Check it out:

Six years ago, the streets were flooded with throwback jerseys, oversized fitted caps and Air Force Ones in exclusive colorways. Tons of people were spending major dollars to stay in the latest Mitchell and Ness and Stall and Dean jerseys. Hip-Hop junkies remember Fabolous as being the “go to person” for the most exclusive jerseys and freshest accessories to match. The coco colored half Black half Dominican kid with the chipped tooth was the man to read more.

I had been hearing about this annoying song by a new artist named Hurricane Chris, from New Orleans, called “A Bay Bay,” for the past couple of days. I brushed it off as another wack ass artist either from the South or trying to fit that “Southern” formula that music execs like so much, and figured that I would see it when I see it.
I saw it by accident and I’m horrified. It’s bad enough I was watching 106 and Park when I saw it (long story) but it was today’s new joint.
A Bay Bay, A Bay Bay…
I can still hear it ringing in my ears, oh the agony. Seriously. What! The! Fuck! Just when I thought TV Hip-Hop (I don’t feeling saying commercial) couldn’t get any worse, I’m faced with this stupid ass song and a worse video from an artist with an even more cliché name. Hurricane Chris from New Orleans, gee that’s clever [insert sarcasm here] with an even wacker song. I thought Ashton Kutcher was going to jump out and tell us that we’d all been “punk’d.” Actually, I prayed for Ashton Kutcher to jump out and say those words but no haps. And to make matters worse, the male host of the show -- I can’t think of his name but you know, the one that isn’t Rocsi – had the nerve to say this, and I quote: “I was one of the main haters of that song but ya’ll said it was hot and must be because it made it in the countdown as the new joint.”
Since when do we let 14 and 15-year-olds dictate what’s hot? It should be the other way around. And based on their “online” votes at that? Do we really still believe that it’s their votes that count? I hope not, because we all know that the big wigs over at BET are being paid by the big wigs at record labels to tell us what’s hot. And sadly, the children buy it (and some adults too).
But straight up, rappers need to step their game up. Not just with the music but in terms of their sound and educating the youth. When Nas said Hip-Hop was dead, I think he was simply issuing a wake up call. The main people beefing with what Nas said ain’t putting shit out that’s worth anything, which is why they’re upset and grunting and groaning about it. You know people don’t like hearing the truth about them selves and what Nas said was real talk. This is not about the North versus the South or anything like that; it’s about real recognizing real.
Rappers who are fortunate enough to get signed, I implore you: Push for your own identity. You need to sound like yourself. Asinine hooks and lame coonish dances are not the way to go. Everyone knows the music industry is sort of stymied. Sales are lagging and we don’t even know when artists are dropping anymore unless they get play on 106 and Park and MTV. Whoopdie doo, that makes about five albums. Am I the only one who just found out that DMX dropped another album today? Remember when DMX was the shit? Anyway, I digress…
We need inspiration, not mediocrity. We need to show the children, the record execs and the big wigs at BET what’s poppin’ and who really runs this shit! It’s the people.
Ashton Kutcher never popped out but I still believe we are all being punked. Sigh…
**EDIT** I've been informed that Hurricane Chris is from Shreveport, not New Orleans. Still doesn't change my opinion. Sorry.
