The Undisputed Truth

Chicken Soup for the Migraine Sufferer's Ears

I suffer from a severe addiction. It affects my ability to function sometimes, and I’ve been nurturing this addiction with my drug of choice since I was about two years old or so. Yeah, you heard me. Two years old. And just what might that addiction be? Caffeine. Anybody that’s hooked on it as badly as I am can tell you that withdrawal headaches are the norm. And sometimes, when you got that pounding, light sensitive headache, certain music just doesn’t cut it. But in my world, silence isn’t golden. I have to have some noise. So through my many headache experiences, I’ve found some songs that can still relax me without giving me a sensory overload with irritating instrumentals (like sudden sharp, loud sounds in the beat) or obnoxious voices. Weezy F. Baby – you can sit this one out. Oh, and I may have even thrown in a few treats for you…

1. Floetry – Say Yes

2. Outkast – Spottieottiedopalicious

If this song doesn't mellow you out, I don't know what's wrong with you.

3. Animate Objects - Beautiful
Just a chill, relaxing, non-forceful tune. Check out their music by the way - good stuff.

4. Tonedeff – Porcelain

5. AZ feat. Nas – Mo Money Mo Murder Mo Homicide

6. Camp Lo - Coolie High

7. Mos Def – Umi Says

8. The Pharcyde – Splattitorium

9. Killarmy – Lady Sings the Blues
The singing on this track is known to put chills down my spine.

10. Cormega – Thun and Kicko

By no means does this necessarily represent the top 10 songs to listen to when you got a throbbing vein in your temples or anything. These are just ten random ones that work for me. Will they cure a headache? No. But they at least make mine a little more tolerable. Maybe they’ll help you out sometime. If not? Just use my backup plan: a double shot latte. Works every time.
