Word to one of my fellow bloggers, Brillyance - hip hop is kinda boring right now. It pains me to say it, but it is. Hopefully after all of our favorite (read: drama attracting and not so talented) rappers finish putting on a few pounds for Thanksgiving, they’ll start getting into some bullshit that I can laugh at and complain about again.
I did hear one interesting thing yesterday though: Soulja Boy wants to go back to school. Aw. Touching. Well, not school exactly, but he’s agreed to hire a tutor that will be on the road with him. I wonder if this means that I’ll actually be able to understand what he’s saying on his next single?
Anyway, since hip hop is being seemingly slow lately, let’s talk about something else. And you know what? I’m in a selfish mood, so I’m going to talk about me for a change. In true DX blogger fashion, I started out flooding you readers with my thoughts without ever taking the time to introduce you to the girl who thinks up these ludicrous ideas. Now of course, I can’t tell you my whole story in one blog, and I’m going to keep things general…but at some point some of my insanely odd and random stories will come out through my blogs. I’ll find some way to make them relevant. God only knows I’ve found myself in some odd scenarios. But for now, just some strictly general background info to help you put me in perspective…
1. I was a cheerleader. Like…big time. At times I would be cheering 7 days a week, practicing 4+ hours a day sometimes while still going to school. OK, well, sleeping through it. Whatever. Not only did I cheer for my high school (and held it down as captain for two seasons, yeah son!), but I cheered on competitive all-star squads outside of school and was hitting up national competitions on the weekends. Don’t get it twisted though - I’m not (and was never) your typical cheerleader type.
2. I’m mixed – half Palestinian, one-fourth Russian, one-fourth German. Kind of odd mix if you ask me. Oh, and I love my peoples but I can clown on Palestinians and white people for days without even the slightest bit of shame. They just make it too easy.
3. I’m developing an addiction to college hoops. Ever since my GMU Patriots made it to the Final Four back in 2006, I just can’t quit the shit. Patriots 3-0! It’s on. Peep ESPN2 on Thanksgiving at 9pm EST.
4. I love cars. Particularly those of the German variety. And not just because they’re shiny and some have big rims on them. I like figuring out how they work, and what separates one model from the rest. A dream of mine is to hit the German autobahn in a Benz. SLR McLaren, perhaps? CLK-GTR (guaranteed to never happen)? S65 AMG? Something that goes fast as shit, so I can hit 200mph or so and do it legally. Yessir.
5. I’m a cooking fiend, and I find not many things to be more gratifying than cooking food for other people. Good recipes are always welcome.
Well, enough about me for now. Perhaps I’ll enlighten you to actual interesting experiences of mine at some point in time. Anyway, until hip hop decides to wake up and entertain me again, I hope everybody has a great Thanksgiving vacation and stay safe if you’re traveling. By the time you drag your newly overweight asses back to DX, maybe there will be more scandalous shit going down in the hip hop world again that we can disagree about.
