You know how long it took me to truly decide on this? I've been listening to CD's from last year for the past month or so debating. I've had my top 3 locked forever. The rest is what was hard to figure out. Finally after much internal debate, here it is…Brillyance's top 10 albums of last year
10. Evidence "The Weatherman LP"- Truthfully, I didn't really know what to expect from an Evidence solo joint. Dilated Peoples is the most hip hop hip hip hop group left, however, Evidence is the youngest member of the crew. With him being the youngest member, you could attribute Dilated's focus to its older statesman. Ev could have just been the little homie along for the ride as much as we knew. Well we now we know. Ev's solo joint is solid, solid production, solid lyrics, and this time more personal. Ev's intention was to give people a better understanding of who he truly is, and after listening to "The Weatherman LP" you definately get a better understanding of the Venice emcee. You still get that Dilated feel from the album, even without the Babu/Beat Junkies solo track. This album would have been higher on my list, but while it was good, it was mind blowing. When you come with as many tracks as this album did, (21) you're bound to have some songs that are simply OK (Down in New York City). The weather report skits fit the album...but weren't really necessary.
9. Talib Kweli "EarDRUM"-People have come to expect alot from Kweli. With tracks like "Get By", you can't really blame them. After much waiting, "EarDrum" finally dropped in 2008. Was it worth the wait? With as many push backs as this album had, that's debatable. Was it good? Definitely. Kweli's album ranks above Evidence's because the tracks on this album are defiantly stronger than Ev's. Kweli got one of the best verses I've ever heard from Pimp C on "Country Cousins". Kwe and Jean ripped "Say Something" apart. Kweli's album doesn't have as many tracks as Ev's, but it has more songs, and suffers from the same problem Ev's album did, and that's what holds it back at 9.
8. Somobe "The Great Communication"-I don't know how many times I gotta say this...stop sleeping on these cats. Nobody can convince me this album doesn't belong in this spot. Great sample free beats, dope lyrics...what more does it take? The album starts off with no intro, it goes right into "Building", which will convince anyone with any doubts to definitely leave the album on. Other tracks like "Where I'm Supposed To Be" and "We need a Love Song" definitely stand out. If you can make it to the end of the album without cutting it off because you don't remember seeing a Somobe video on MTV, you'll get to the strongest track on the album "You Can't Risk That". While I originally would have proclaimed this album 4.5 or 4.75 area, after listening to it now, I'd give it a 4. I believe with the beats, Somobe is definitely where they need to be, but Jon D (the emcee) seems to go easy on his listeners. Hip hop is often compared to punk rock, and I believe GREAT hip hop does have a lot in common with punk rock. This right here is GOOD hip hop. Somobe is only a couple steps away from dropping an album I could debate is in the top 5 of its release year. The cohesiveness of this album keep it above spots 9, and 10.
7.CunninLynguists "Dirty Acres"- The south catches a lot of flak for the garbage music that comes from the region, as if garbage music doesn't come from every region. I believe this is mainly due to the fact that the masses are lazy, and don't want to seek out the good, they just take whatever TV gives them. I felt I had to give this album a listen after all the acclaim it was getting. The acclaim was well deserved. "Dirty Acres" chokes the shit out of all doubters of the south. after listening to the album, you get the feeling that the collective know as CunninLynguists seek to make good hip hop music, but refuse to attempt to hide their southern roots. They remind me of the Dungeon Family before Dungeon Family attempted to make a Dungeon Family album. "Dirty Acres" contains what would have put "The Great Communication" up like 4 spots, which is why it's ranked above it, yet it lacks a lot of what the #8 album has, which is why it remains at 7.
6. Jay Z "American Gangster"- Originally, I really didn't want to list this album at all. It was hard for me to overlook Jay's gimmi....I mean concept attempt. The reasoning for the album really seemed like a cheap way to attempt to recreate Reasonable Doubt, and I was feeling this before Ms. Ewing pointed it out to a lot of ya'll. However, after listening to it a million times (not because I love it, but to try and ignore my bias), I have to admit, it is a good album. It reflects the life and views of a group of people SOOOO many rappers attempt to speak for. Hundreds of millions of legal dollars away from these people, Jay can still spit their life a lot better than a lot who of rappers who may actually still be there. "American Gangster" isn't classic, or near it, but it is good. It lacks the lyrics to be ranked any higher than six, and isn't necessarily lyrically better than the albums under it, however, it is a more complete album then the ones below it.
So Jay's not in the top 5? This from the person who came out and said Jay was way better than Big? How is this possible? Who in the hell dropped better albums than Jay?
5.Lupe Fiasco "The Cool"-Lupe had a lot of hype coming into this album. Dropping one of the best debut albums in a long while, what could he possibly do next? First of all, while I have this album ranked 5, lyrically, it's either 3 or 2. Lupe is probably the best lyricist out right now, mainstream, underground, indie, whatever. Lupe is also one of the most creative concept wise, with tracks like "Dumb it Down", and "Gotta Eat", you can't knock his creativity. So, what holds the album back? TOO MANY THROWAWAY TRACKS. Really, if he would have cut this album down to the best 9 song album with the intro (ala Illmatic) it would have been the best album of the year, and one of the best albums of all time, however he didn't. Tracks like "Go Baby" keep this album back at 5.
4. Common "Finding Forever"-Normally when in album drops you either like it or don't like it off top. If you don't like it, you don't like it. If you like it, you may not like it later. With "Finding Forever" I found myself originally not huge on it, but as I've listened to it more recently I found this is REALLY a good album. Sure, Kanye almost killed "Southside" (in a bad way) and Com makes several Hollywood references, but how can you not respect an album with "The People" "The Game", "Black Maybe", and "Misunderstood"? All of these songs would have been one of the top 3 songs on any other album this year. It's a shame Com doesn't get the respect he deserves. If he died, he'd be proclaimed the greatest of all time hands down. As long as he's alive he just continues to drop great albums. The only reason I don't have this album higher is because the top is crowded. Any other year, this album probably would have been 3 or 2, this year however it's stuck at 4.
Chi-town back to back at 5 and 4...didn't another Chi-town emcee drop an album this year? Is he gonna be #1? Will Chi get three in a row with 'Ye at 3 or does he become the first loser at #2?
3. Pharoahe Monch "Desire"- The top 3 was the easy part of this list. I wanted to put this album higher, but I couldn't decide why it would be. Truthfully, I have a hard time coming up with enough detail to explain why this album is good enough to be my number 3. I'll tell you one thing, I have an even harder time finding flaws in this album. Maybe Pharoahe sings too much..I don't know. This is the GREAT hip hop I talked about earlier. This is work out music. This is, "fuck a B, I'm gonna get that A" music. This is "Fuck you pig, do what you gonna do" music. It seems like Monch took all the time off to create this album, and the result was worth the wait. The lyrics on this album are either ranked 1 or 2 of the year in my mind. I guess what holds this back is the production. It fits Pharoahe's lyrics and flow right, however, it's not as good as Pharoahe's Lyric's and flow. I try and be a strictly lyrics dude, but in all reality the production does matter. if all this music was acapella, this would be number 1 or 2, however, it's not.
2. Blu and Exile "Below The Heavens"-I have to admit, I'm a late adopter to this album. Who could've guessed a racist would not only promote a nigga, but also help another nigga find what they were looking for at the same time? (What up Shake..j/k) This album is the total package. Blu is a representation of everybody from L.A. who doesn't gang bang or wear BAPES. Blu is Murs with far stronger lyrics, and Exile is likely to pop up a lot more after helping craft this album. This album goes from reflecting on Blu's first to pondering the existence of heaven. Is the album perfect? No, but it’s amazing and its flaws are small and insignificant. The worse tracks on this album are still good, just not on par with everything else on the disc. The only true reason I have this album at number 2 is because of what else dropped this year.
1. Brother Ali “The Undisputed Truth”-People can say the term classic is tossed around too frequently all they like. Catch this….CLASSIC. I said it when the album dropped, this site said it, I’m saying it now. Classic. Nobody brought it like Ali did on this album this year. Nobody brought it like this last year. This album would have been #1 for a couple years straight. The lyrics, the flow, the emotion, the production, it’s all there without a shadow of a doubt. No wonder people like Rakim himself were praising this album. Ali tackles subjects such as relationships, politics, religion, race, all without getting too preachy, yet without being delicate about it. Ali pulls no punches and holds no hands. If you haven’t heard this album, stop sleeping, if you have heard it and you don’t like it, don’t worry, I’m sure PM Dawn will be back soon (what up Bambu!). Aspiring emcees, this is what you aim for, strong and solid. That’s it. That’s my top 10 for last year. Honorable mentions go out to
El-P “I’ll sleep when You’re Dead”
Devin The Dude “Waiting to Inhale”
Kanye West “Graduation”
Planet Asia “Jewelry Box Sessions”
Ghostface Killah “Big Doe Rehab”
Bambu “I Scream Bars for the Children”
Song of the Year
Lupe Fiasco “Dumb it Down”
Best R&B CD
Chrisette Michele “I Am”
Biggest Disappointment
Little Brother “Get Back”- I was really surprised so many people liked this CD. When I heard 9th wasn’t fucking with LB’s, I wasn’t nervous at all. Khrysis has made his fair share of bangers before. Justus League has a good amount of dope producers. However….none of them showed up. The funny thing is, the production wasn’t my main problem with this CD. Phonte is still dope, and Pooh definitely stepped his game up. So lyrics aren’t the problem either. I don’t know, I think the problem was the direction. I know they said they wanted to go somewhere different, and I know they say if you try to put an artist in a box you’re bound to get disappointed…yet here I am surprised I’m disappointed. I don’t think 9th’s production not being present is the problem, because although the other JL producers didn’t step up in his absence I know they could have, I think his input overall is what’s missing. He may not write rhymes, but I’m sure he had some say in the songs that were made other than the sample that would be used on the beat. “Get Back” wasn’t necessarily whack, it just didn’t live up to my expectations. That’s why I have it as biggest disappointment instead of the Wu album like HHDX…cuz I didn’t really expect the Wu album to be good.

I originally attempted to post this on MLK day, but, the blog editor isn't to big on me. Well, last time I posted here, I talked about the racial issues that popped off last year. Surprisingly, some of ya'll agreed with that America's next top model tramp on her views of BET and Black History Month. I guess. Well, I wanted to say something, so, before I post a blog about the best music of last year, I figured I should touch on my feelings of what the stupid heffa said.
First and foremost remember, just because someone doesn't do their job it doesn't mean the position shouldn't exist. It means that muthafucka should be fired and replaced. Take George W. Bush for example....you'll probably understand what I mean later.
Ok, first and foremost I have to admit, as far as Black History Month goes, I partially agree. There shouldn't be a black history month. YOU SHOULD LEARN ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE ALL YEAR LONG! We play just as big a part in the history of this country as anybody else, if not bigger. Had it not been for the money made from slavery, who knows where this country would have been. We didn't build this city...we literally built this country up. Sure, over time, other people were taken advantage of, like the people of China out west during the western expansion, and the Mexicans of today, but had it not been for slavery, this country may not....no,wouldn't have made it this far. Yet and still, when we do get a "black history month" all you hear is:
Niggas was slaves
George Washington Carver got it poppin with the peanut
Martin Luther King had a dream
There's a lot more shit to speak on than that. There's enough shit to last longer than a short month, there's enough for a year. We played a major role in everything major that happened in this country, yet all you hear about is "MLK was a great man". Bullshit. We're all Americans if anybody deserves a history month it's Native Americans because "we" destroyed their culture? First of all, "we" didn't do shit. Second of all, as much as I remember (or don't), I don't know what specific part of Africa my people come from, I don't know what language they spoke, I don't know what their original religion is...as much as I'm concerned "we" (meaning ya'll...whoever she was referring to) destroyed my culture. Don't think cuz we came up with some new shit it's all good. "Ah naw, ya'll niggas got new slang, hip hop, all sorts of new stuff, ya'll good" Fuck that. My culture was destroyed. Fuck a history month, anytime you study American history, we should be spoken on. We're all American until shit matters, then American is blonde haired youth in young clothes.
I'm about to say something I never thought I'd say. BET is necessary. Yea...I said it. Maybe not the BET we all know and hate, but some form of Black Entertainment Television is definitely needed. Why not? White people got White Entertainment Television...it's called MTV, CBS, NBC, ABC, and every other fucking channel on TV. Sure, some networks show black people, like MTV, but for the most part, networks don't give a shit about black people. It's all good, I know channels are concerned with ratings. I'm sure the majority wouldn't care to see black people all the time. However, some of "us" would like to see "us" fairly represented on television. How do you have a show based in New York and have no Blacks, Ricans,Cubans, or Dominicans (cuz ya'll niggas too) on "Friends" or "Seinfeld"? All right then. You guys don't want to see "us", ok then, that's the purpose for BET. Plain and simple. FOX news doesn't give a fuck about black people unless their "looting" in New Orleans. Fine...give me a channel that's gonna give me news about my people. I don't give a shit about Ms. Spears or Paris Hitler, or none of them hoes. Give me a channel that's gonna tell me about people I MIGHT give half a shit about. THAT's the clear purpose for a channel like BET. It's not like other people don't have their own channels. Mexicans have Telamundo. Don't give me that "They have that channel because they speak a different language"...this is America, and the language of America is English. I'm sure most people who watch Telamundo understand English just fine, they just don't want to hear that bullshit the other networks are giving them because for the most part they don't relate to it. How come there hasn't been a Mexican on the Real World? As some of my Mexican peoples would say, not a Hispanic, a Mexican muthafucka. That's because that network doesn't really give a shit about them. That's the reason for Telamundo, cuz Mexicans need a network that's gonna look out for them.
Now, like I originally said, just because someone doesn't do their job doesn't mean the position shouldn't exist. Just because BET doesn't do its’ job doesn't mean we shouldn't have it. That just means that it should be fired and replaced. I still watch other networks, because there is no REAL black network yet. For the record, I understand that those were black people agreeing with that tramp, and I don't really understand it one bit. I don’t know what America ya'll live in, what TV ya'll watch, or what history classes ya'll took, but this is how I feel based on my experiences in this country.

I may not always come when I say, but I’m always on time. I’ve been busy getting back on my hustle game with the systems (I had to take a break from that), I’ve also been back to the working world for the past 4 weeks. Yeah, I’m working a 9-5 with the rest of the slaves, but somehow I’ve found time to get back here. I had been talking about reflecting on 2007, and when I hollered at one of my peoples, he started bringing up all the racial issues that happened in ’07. So I figured, before I say what I think is the best album in ’07, maybe I should cover something a little less serious….like racial drama.
1. Imus tha don- This was definitely the most covered issue (for reasons unknown), and probably the catalyst for a lot of the other shit that popped off in 07. Truthfully, I don’t think it was that big of a deal. I think Imus was wrong for getting on those girls like that, as far as race relates to the issue. I don’t think it was that big of a deal, especially compared to some of the other shit Imus has said. The real fucked up thing about this whole issue was how hip hop took the blame. Yea, I believe Imus probably did get the phrase he used from hip hop…where the hell else would he get it from. But oh well, he still has to take responsibility for his mistake. If TI said, “Oh, I only knew about these guns because of Rambo, how else would I know about these type of guns, I’ve from a broke neighborhood where people can’t afford this type of weaponry” Do you think people would attack Hollywood? Fuck no!
Worse than Imus, was Sharpton and his “appease massa” attitude. I know Sharpton has attacked popular black entertainment before, but his attack on hip hop was so hypocritical, especially considering Sharpton frequented popular hip hop mags applauding rappers like Jim Jones a year prior. No, not the hitmaker who brought “Ballin!” to the mainstream, I mean the west coast swagger jacker who rode Eazy E’s Johnson with “Certified Gangsta”. (Actually, I’m sure his latest “opus” wasn’t any more conscious than his prior). All this drama cuz some old ass white man noticed that a bunch of young girls chose not to perm their hair…
2. Holding it dizzle for the Jena Sizzle at the Bet awizzards-Jena Six, Jena Six. Ah man, ya’ll was about to burn the house down if this wrong didn’t get fix. What the hell, oh my god, how in the hell can the legal system fuck over some black kids? Nigga please, this ain’t nothing new. How did this become the big racial injustice of 2007? Black people get ripped off by the legal system left and right, all day every day. Where the hell was Mos Def when those black girls were getting charged with jumping two white girls on Halloween 2005 here in Long Beach? Oh, he didn’t know about that situation did he? The difference between the case with the girls here in Long Beach, and in Jena, is here in Long Beach, the girls actually didn’t jump the white girls, some skateboarders did (Everybody in Long Beach knows it).
Does anybody actually know what happened with Mychal Bell? I’ll tell you what happened, he plead GUILTY (cuz that’s what you do when you DO commit a crime) to a reduced charge of battery, and AGREED TO TESTIFY AGAINST THE OTHERS. Oh yea, so while all those people took their time out to fight for these six kids, in the end, one of them chose to fight against the others.
In the end, the Jena Six turned into the Jena 5 and a snitch. But wha wha wha wha wait it gets worse! Over half a million was donated to the Jena Six for Legal fees, however, young Po (Mychal Bell) seen none of it. When the others were questioned about what happened with the money, most refused to show what happened with the money. One person did.
Robert Bailey, a member of the Jena Six, was seen in a picture on his MySpace page posing with a wad of 100s in his mouth. I definitely took this issue even less serious when two of the Jena Six showed up to the BET awards look like Souljah Boy Tell’em ‘s long lost platoon mates. The people YA’LL support…sheesh.
All though I talk shit about the whole situation, I still have respect for everybody who DID stand up for the whole situation. I just feel it’s a shame that this issue was brought to people, and they chose to do their part, yet in the end, it seems like a big waste of their time.
3. Don’t even mention the Je….-yea, plenty a nigga caught hell last year for bringing up the Jews. Far before my fellow west coast verbal -rapper slapping buddy Meka took the time to type the unbearable “K word”, niggas was catching flak for mentioning the unmentionables.
When CBA coach Micheal Ray Richardson was suspending for being accused of calling a disgruntled fan a derogatory word used to describe homosexuals, he said in a press conference “I have big Jew lawyers” he went on to say, and I quote:
“They got a lot of power in this world, you know what I mean? Which I think is great,” Richardson told the Albany Times Union. “I don’t think there’s nothing wrong with it. If you look in most professional sports, they’re run by Jewish people. If you look at a lot of most successful corporations and stuff, more businesses, they’re run by Jewish (people). It’s not a knock, but they are some crafty people.” Needless to say, Michael Ray wasn’t able to get anymore of that low-budget CBA coaching money. Soon after the Imus situation, comedian Ashy Larry lost his spot on a radio show for saying that he’s a “cheap black man….a Jewish black man”.
Lets skip past the Meka Soul situation which came weeks after some white rappers “white nigger” song, and near the end of the year we have the situation with Will Smith. Will said that Hitler “thought he was doing good”, yet mainstream media tried there hardest to twist his words into something they weren’t. Had will said something other than what he said, who knows what would have happened to his career, but then again, maybe he’d get to slide like Mel Gibson did. Where is Mel Gibson? Anywayz, let me change the subject to something safer……
4. Mike Vick is my dog…- How is the Mike Vick situation racial you say? Simple, because you made it so. While I’m sure several actually believe this was bigger than it was simply because they believe it was bigger than it was, and several white people believed this was heinous crime simply because they believed it was a heinous crime, however, most of ya’ll were obviously blinded. I was really put on to the racial undertones of the situation when in discussion with a white person about the situation (the dog fighting ring), I was told “I mean, white people don’t make god running backs…there’s just some things some people just can’t do” I was thrown off, because I didn’t see how that related to the fact he thought Mike Vick should get raped in jail, then he explained how he thought black people just don’t make good quarterbacks. I don’t know, maybe I’m trying to put 2 and 2 together to make 5, but sometimes, certain things seem to add up like 2 and two to make 4. Black people weren’t any better. There acceptance of something that was cruel and unusual simply because, in blogs where I argued that people were being contradictory when saying this was morally wrong yet hunting wasn’t often took the focus off what I was saying, and onto some stupid racial shit. People always want to say that they don’t see race, but that’s impossible, and most people who say that place race first in all situations.
5. Dog is my dog too- Poor unfortunate trailer trash. Why the hell would someone tape a private conversation with Dog the bounty the hunter? Barely anybody watches his show, yet it’s funny how people started paying attention after he dropped the “N Bomb”. The funny thing is, he didn’t know he was being taped, and he still said he wasn’t racists he just uses the word, yet and still, he still caught hell. Just imagine if everything you said would be held under the microscope, I guess that’s the life a celebrity has to live….wait, I’m not talking about a celebrity, I’m talking about dog the bounty hunter. Really man, I think it’s fucked up dude lost his job, I think some porno company should donate the proceeds of an adult video starring a mullet rocking dude banging black chicks to Dog so he can maintain his lavish lifestyle.
6. Hey Look, I’m a model…but I have a brain too…sike- First let me hit ya’ll with the quote from Adrienne Curry, the first winner of America’s next top model..
"This is gonna be hard guys. I LOVE the comedians on BET. I also LOVE the fact that they play my favorite show of all time, In Living Color. However, I do not believe in seperating ANY RACE in America. WE ARE AMERICANS! How dare we have Black History Month! In my eyes, the Native Americans deserve it MUCH more, seeing how we destroyed their ENTIRE SOCIETY. There are hardly any of them left! They also have been proven to have the WORST living conditions on their reservations. I want AN AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH. One where we learn about EVERY race, ALL OF OUR LEADERS, EVERYONE! I think by having a month dedicated to one race, and not one for any other, is RACIST. Every fund set up to only help people of one race is SICK and RACIST
Yes, I get it. Black people were slaves here once. You know what? That does suck some major balls, however, it is time to move the f*** on. Do we hear the Jews crying that they were made slaves for thousands of years? Do we hear them whine that they should OWN the pyramids in Egypt because THEY broke their backs making them? Do we hear them b**** and moan about Hitler, etc? (my hubby is a Jew)Nope, we dont. It’s time for us to UNITE AS ONE. I do not think that singling out one race, giving one race opportunities to go to college (I know a TON of poor white.asian, indian, american indian, etc etc that could use that too!), giving one race the EXCUSE to blame things on others for being whatever nationality they are, is a good way at making sure we NEVER kill racism.I am over this s***.
WE ALL CAME FROM ONE BLACK WOMAN FROM AFRICA, THAT is our EVE! It has been proven by science, and I stand by it. If any other race had a chanel dedicated to just them, we would think it was racist. If any other race demanded a month be set aside for ONLY them, they would be considered racist. I am NOT living by this double standard any longer.Think I am racist? I am not. I know what racism is. I dated a guy named “Justin” in Junior high. Nothing serious, but I really liked him. He was the blackest of black…BEAUTIFUL skin, kinda like Alex Wek’s. He was handsome, and athletic, etc. I was called a nigger lover. But you know what? I was called that by a whole 2 people out of a school with HUNDREDS of students. THAT is why I am NOT buying this racist s*** anymore. Let us teach or children that there is NO DIFFERENCE!
We are all human. I hope one day aliens land and try to kill us. Maybe THEN we would finally realize that WE are ONE.So, I will no longer tune into BET. This is going to suck, but I do NOT like the idea of having a chanel for only 1 race. In the year 2007 in a country that is supposed to be the most advanced and equal. This is unexceptable! I will also no longer acknowledge Black History Month. Instead, I will see it the way that Morgan Freeman does (I have the quote at the bottom of my last blog on Obama/jesseJackson, and OJ). AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH! I will read/watch/and learn about ALL the people who made a difference in this country.I am asking you ALL to join me. Black, White, Indian, Asian, Russian, Australian, etc etc…..lets be AMERICANS together! What happened to the African American community was AMERICAN HISTORY, not BLACK HISTORY. If you want to celebrate in a way that excludes others and singles one race out, count me the f*** out! I am soooo proud to be an American. I am SO proud that I have friends of every race, and none of us see each other as anything but what we are..people. Lets change Black History Month to 2 months of AMERICAN HISTORY. We will still learn about all the black leaders and people who made a difference….just not with the racist name of “Black History Month”. It has to start somewhere. I am going to do my part in making sure we are all treated EQUAL in a country that CLAIMS we are. NO MORE SPECIAL TREATMENT FOR ANYONE WITH ANYTHING!
It will never happen. At least, that is what many of you will say…FINE! My number one priority here is being able to die and know that I stood up for what I believed in, and that I did not add to the SEPERATION OF AMERICANS!! I love my country, I love the people in it. I love our history, good and bad. We should LEARN from it,not dwell in it and not move forward. That’s why I am done with this s***. You are all my brothers and sisters…..even if I think you suck ; ) As Bono said, “One life, with each other..sisters…brothers!”
I hate using so much space for this, as it makes it seem more important, but this shit was just too funny to leave out. Once, while at my sisters house my nieces were watching that garbage ass “America’s Next Top Model”, I seen one episode where Tyra had these girls read from a teleprompter…god these girls are idiots. You’d think Tyra wouldn’t do anything to keep up with the stereotypes models already have to fight, like the one that all models are stupid, but then again, Tyra was and still is a model…and all models are stupid. I don’t even have to comment on this.
7. Nobody cares about Asians, Mexicans, or Arabians-I really wish I had something for ya’ll, but see, the media doesn’t give a fuck about ya’ll being discriminated against and or hated on, so they haven’t forced any outburst of Asian/Mexican/Arabian slurs in my face. Sorry, maybe next year.
8. No, I didn’t call the faggot a faggot- You’d think black people would realize where they rank after MTV’s the real world started having seasons with no blacks, yet two homosexuals, but obviously we haven’t. Isaiah Washington, formerly of “Grey’s Anatomy” lost his job for saying the F word (No, not fuck, that’s all good), not the first time…the second time. The year before last in an argument with some big headed washed up actor, Isaiah said “you can’t just bully me, I’m a man, I’m not a faggot like (insert homosexual actor from garbage show’s name here)” Isaiah caught hella flack. He had to go to homophobe rehab, do public service announcements about homophobia, and apologize to the gay community. Then, last year, when the cast was asked about the incident, Isaiah blurted out “No, I didn’t call (gay dude’s name here) a faggot”. Normally its three strikes you’re out, but this nigga only got two. He apologized again, but all the appeasing in the world couldn’t save his job at this overrated show. Done deal.
What a year! Who knows, maybe, since all that went on last year, we’ll get a black president this year, and he won’t get assassinated. Only time will tell. Until next time, I’ll leave ya’ll with the same words I left with the Jehovah’s Witnesses that came to my sisters house
“CHUUUUUUUUUUCH!”

I'm gonna wait till next week to look back at last year...you know, give everybody else a chance to speak on it.I've been around, I've just been chilling. I went to the Mur's concert on Christmas...which was hella dope (although I ended up only getting an hour and a half sleep prior to work the next day due to the concert, but I'll do damn near anything for hip hop). I was out in Deygo (translation: San Diego) for new years eve with my girl at my favorite hotel big chilling...so basically life is good. When things are going good you get to pay attention to shit that isn't really that important...like my nephew's taste in music. My nephew and his boys seem to be fascinated by this garbage cat named Reed Dollaz or however the hell this bum wants to spell it.(They also seem to rock the young clothes look Meka spoke on the other day...they say the chicks dig it...I guess the young ones, cuz my girl ain't feeling it....she's a scientist....Brillyance stays winning!)
Dude is hella garbage (I tried to embed a video, but me and embedding aren't gettin along right now). As I tried to explain it to my nephew and his homies, they couldn't grasp that dude isn't really that skilled. Then I kicked a freestyle accurately mimicking this whack ass rapper off the top of my head. Not only is this dude whack...he's fake. I'm so sick of these garbage ass rappers posing. I was happy when that trash ass dude whose name nobody remembers got punched in the face for "styling" on somebody in a battle. I guess fronting is Ok over there on the other coast, out here you have to at least pay some gangs to protect you and not punch you in the mouth for fronting. I know Reed Dollaz ain't paying nobody off cuz his gear game seems to explain to me he's broke. (How the fuck you got dollaz in ya name, but not in your pocket?)
To other people, these posing ass rappers may not really bother you, but this shit is really starting to annoy me. See, while my best friend is locked down unjustly for murder and attempted murder, two of my other people are locked down for attempted murders I'm told they did take part in. While rappers love to boast about shit like this, the reality of it is...it's nothing to boast about. The REALITY is murderers get put in jail for a long time. I can't hit my closest homie up and talk to him about shit, cuz he's locked up for life. Don't hit me with that product of my environment/we ain't got shit else to live for shit either, cuz I know Africans that have came over here and couldn't speak english, yet are now millionaires. They knew less about this country than you/us, and they're gonna get racially profiled just like me, cuz even though they're from another country, at the end of the day, they're still a nigga.
It's 2008, muthafuckas need to stop with this fronting shit. I don't have a reason to believe they will this year when they've been faking for awhile, but oh well, I wanna speak on the shit, I'mma speak on it. I should drop "Stop Coonin'" and change it to "Stop Fronting" cuz the shit needs to be spoken on.
Year in Review by Brillyance next week, some of my feelings on last year are DEFINATELY gonna differ from what I've seen on this site so far for the awards and stuff, so check it out.
