This is real basic, If you da da da, then you da da da. Brief explanations when I feel like it...if I don't, oh well. Just some things I've concluded after spending the time I've spent here and on various message boards
1. If you think Nas won the battle with Jay, Then you are clearly a hater
I love Nas' music, but come on man! Jay spit straight truth on those shots he threw at Nas. That shit hit close to home, Nas went into "God Son" saying "he needed a chick that wouldn't sleep with his enemies,” Nas was hurt. "Ether" was dope, but really it was like a little kid talking making up jokes about his dad, after his dad scolded him for having bad grades, not doing his chores, and still shitting on his self. While the kid may be funny, the reality of what the dad is worse
2. If you think hip hop is only music and not that serious, then you really shouldn't be reading any of the blogs on HipHopDx.
I've seen this stated several times, "Oh, it's just music, its just entertainment" No, it's not. This is a culture. None of the bloggers here get paid (for blogging). They do this shit because they want to. They shout out artists that will never sell a million units because they can really feel their music. They take time out of their busy schedules to write about this music because they are truly apart of this culture. So sure, to you it may be "just music" but understand where you’re at. I'm from Long Beach; I don't walk around a crip neighborhood saying "Red is just a color". Smarten up niggas
3. If you think "Electric Circus" was whack (the Common album), Then you can't possibly feel anything from Andre 3000
I know I've been bigging up Common recently, but oh well, the shit shall continue. A lot of people diss dude for "Electric Circus". I'll admit, it's not one of my favorite Common albums. However I find it funny when these same people turn right around and praise Andre from Outkast. Me personally, I think Andre is dope, but I just find it hella strange he does some shit like that it's dope, Common does it, it's absolutely whack.4. If you still claim Hip Hop is dead, then you should just go ahead and follow the new trend
I still hear this shit, quit it. I'm sorry, that shit is so played out. If you truly believe Hip Hop is dead, go ahead and hop on the new "it" music. I'm sure you thought reggaeton was gonna pop, then it didn't, and your left a little confused at what bandwagon to hop on. I'll help you out...kill yourself.
5. If you are a homophobe, Then you have probably masturbated while thinking of another man's penis before
homo.
6. If you don't acknowledge Kobe Bryant as the best all around scorer in NBA History, Then you are just a Mike Jordan fan, and not a true fan of the game
It's crazy how people don't want to give dude his props. I think the main reason is because Kobe came when Jordan was still at the top of his game. However, you have to be real. Kobe is a better shooter than MJ. Those same fade aways MJ hit from the box, or free throw line, Kobe hits from the 3 point line. Kobe goes to the rack better than MJ. Kobe even moves better without the ball than MJ. (How many times have you seen MJ catch alley-oops?) I wouldn't say Kobe is a better player overall than MJ, I believe he's on his way, (however, I think Magic is a better player, for the effect he had on his team, and his overall game. Let me see Jordan play center in the Finals!)
7. If you actually voted for George Bush, Then you are clearly an idiot
I can't completely diss Republicans. You never know, maybe one day, someone will rise from the Republican Party who is clearly the truth. Maybe instead of focusing on tax cuts for the rich, he'll focus on getting more paper in more of our pockets and then cutting taxes for the rich. Maybe instead of starting wars over resources that are running out fast, he'll seek answers to problems that are killing off the earth and many of its natural resources. Maybe instead of using religion to blind people into supporting him, he'll bring people of different religions together to help uplift our country. However, that shit didn't happen in the last 8 years fam. I seriously don't see how anybody could have supported dude.
8. If you are still rocking Fubu, Then you aren't really the stylish cat you think you areI'm not a name brand whore. I don't really care about what brand is on my clothes, if it's dope, its dope. However...I can't fuck with FUBU. That shit was huge at one time, remember? I didn't really fuck with that shit then. Sorry, I love to support my peoples, but something just seemed funny about clothes "For Us By Us" that were extremely expensive. I'm glad that shit faded away faster than two-way pagers.
9. If you are a man and bring a kid into this world and don't raise it up, Then you are a coward and not a man after all
Not too many things I hate more than a dude that doesn't take care of his kids. If hip hop is gonna say "No...anything" it should be "no deadbeat". Although there are a lot of rappers who do take care of their kids, very few of them step up and speak out against dudes who don't take care of their kid cuz "it doesn't look like them"
10. If you say their our no dope rappers out west, then you are either smoking crack (DMX) , some lame New York cat mad cuz your region keeps producing Uncle Murders, or just another sheep that should go back to #4.
I haven't really spoken on west coast music in awhile. I intend on going back to it. It's just crazy how people try and say there's no emcees out here. Truthfully, I think the west coast underground scene is better than any hip hop ANYWHERE. I think most emcees would agree.
I'll do this shit again, however, I'm getting hella tired, so off to bed I go.

I know it's been awhile, but back I am. I don't know if you guys heard about this, but during all-star weekend Charles made some comments that I figured WOULD have created a stir, but somehow didn't. So let me hit ya'll with the comments.
BARKLEY: Hey, I live in Arizona. I have got great respect for Senator McCain. Great respect. But I don’t like the way the Republicans are taking this country. Every time I hear the word "conservative," it makes me sick to my stomach, because they’re really just fake Christians, as I call them. That’s all they are. But I just — I’m going to vote Democratic no matter what.
BLITZER: All right. One quick point before I let you go. You used the phrase "fake Christians" for conservatives. Explain what you’re talking about.
BARKLEY: Well, I think they — they want to be judge and jury. Like, I’m for gay marriage. It’s none of my business if gay people want to get married. I’m pro-choice. And I think these Christians — first of all, they’re supposed to be — they’re not supposed to judge other people. But they’re the most hypocritical judge of people we have in this country. And it bugs the hell out of me. They act like their Christians. And they’re not forgiving at all.
BLITZER: So you're going to get a lot of feedback on this one, Charles.
BARKLEY: They can't do anything to me. I don't work for them.
BLITZER: You feel comfortable saying all that?
BARKLEY: I feel very comfortable saying I'm pro-choice, and I'm for gay marriage. Very comfortable.
BLITZER: But you can't lump all these conservatives as being fake. A lot of them obviously -- most of them are very, very sincere in their religious beliefs.
BARKLEY: Well, they should read the part about they're not supposed to judge other people. They forget that one when it doesn't fit what they want it to say.
BLITZER: All right. we have got to leave it there, Charles. Thanks very much for joining us. (Hopefully this all copied over properly)
This all came after Barkley said he was supporting Obama. I have to admit, I've never really been the biggest fan of Charles Barkley. I wasn't the biggest fan of his game; I wasn't a big fan of him opening his mouth all the time. This time however, I have to say I appreciate it in a major way. Sure, Barkley does contradict himself by judging someone else for judging, but he actually spoke about something that matters. In the era of "Republican's by shoes too," (ala Mike Jordan) I was talking to my one of my younger nieces the other day while watching a documentary about Jimi Hendrix and I asked her;
"When we get older, do you think people will look back at anyone from our time period like they look back at Jimi Hendrix? People look back at people like Jimi Hendrix, Ali, and Bob Marley like gods...who will people look back at from our time?"
She replied Kanye West. Originally I agreed. (Only to later regret that...but that's another blog, stay off my topic!) I'm not saying Barkley is anywhere near a Muhammad Ali, but it's about time an athlete says something about something. Sure that was Tiger Woods home girl, he didn't have to ask for her head for saying someone should lynch him, but he could have spoken out against the word. (Don’t try to compare “Lynch” and “Coon”, one word actually is connected to physically hurting someone, the other one is just…hilarious) He could have said something.
For the record, yea, I also fuck with Charles Barkley's comments because I'm very pro-choice as I've previously stated. I don't believe in abortion as birth control, however in some cases not bringing a child into this world is better than bringing it into this world. (Especially in cases of rape/teen pregnancy). Opposed to what some would like you to believe, being pro-choice doesn't mean you should just have abortions because you feel like it, or because you don't want to buy you kids Air Forces cuz you'd rather buy them for yourself (I've heard this reasoning from someone who's had 5 abortions). It just means you'd like there to be a choice available. Pro-life however, does mean there is no choice, no abortions.
I'm also all for gay marriage, regardless of what the popular hip hop opinion may be. It's also popular in hip hop to wear tight ass pants and your little brother’s shirts....but I'll pass on those trends also. Why support gay getting married? Why Not? Don't hit me with that "What's next, people marrying sheep?" shit, or try to tell me it would increase taxes due to the fact more money would be needed for insurance to help cover some guy’s husband. Both democratic candidates are pushing for some sort of health care for everyone. EVERYONE one, so that means even if the batty boy doesn't get married, he'll be insured. What difference does it make? Is allowing gays to get married gonna influence more people to be gay? Not anymore than MTV's "The Real World" or Bully's "Over the Rainbow" achievement on Xbox 360 unlocked after kissing 20 boys with a boy character. If you believe homosexual marriage would turn the world gay, I guess you also believe violent movies will turn everyone into violent people right? Whatever, grow the fuck up, and stop being sheep. If it doesn't affect you, keep it moving and stop bitching. In several studies done, most homophobes harbor homosexual feelings, so I'm pretty sure at least one of the two gays that hit on me was a homophobe at one time.
I changed my profile pic to one of my favorite album covers of all time, from one of my favorite artists. I figured I'd role with that until I come up with an idea for a new pic. Until next time...bitches.

A year ago T.I. was the guy to be. He was on top of the rap game. The south ran rap, and T.I. ran the south. Lil Wayne, the self proclaimed best rapper alive, even proclaimed T.I. the king of the south. T.I. was that dude. That rapping shit is small though...on the big screen; dude was shooting flicks besides none other than the legendary Denzel. Fuck dreams of fucking an R&B chick, not only was T.I. banging an R&B chick (whether or not BIG said he would rather fuck another dude than fuck any chick from her group), he was taking this chick to snatch up skripper chicks in the skripper capitol and get it popping with the ménage. Herpes rumors be damned! T.I. would come up in the spot where you blow your money on the low to tip this chick to rub up against you, have his chick holler at this chick, and then she'd bounce with TIP. To most dudes, whether or not they respected Clifford’s emcee skills, T.I. WAS that dude. Oh how the mighty have fallen.....
Fast forward past the alter egos, the big time movie that everybody saw before it made it to the big screen, and of course past the "No flash, no bang?" statement, and it's hard to tell who has a brighter future in ATL, TIP or Vick. With Mr. F Baby facing criminal charges, and TIP selling off the properties he bragged about while subliminally dissing Luda to pay off legal fees....who shall the kiddies dick ride now? Who shall the haters turn all their hate to know? Well, the easy answer would be Jay Z, but we all know heavy is the head that wears the crown. Of course he has "the hottest chick in the game wearing his chain", but he can't tell off his side chick without getting pics of him thrown all over the internet. Of course he has the most bucks in the rap game (as far as any black people go, cuz we know who's REALLY getting the money), but we all know the IRS is just waiting for Hov to slip one bit, and he'll be sitting in a cell right next to Mr. Big. Would anybody ever really want all the stress of being Jay? I doubt it. So I have a better answer....Common. The man brought into this world as a crack baby (I really believe that) couldn't be doing better. When he co-starred next to T.I., I'm pretty sure he didn't know that T.I. was getting ready to plummet, and his stock was gonna skyrocket, but it looks like that's how things are going down. The Grammy award winning emcee is definitely on the right track. Off his role in "American Gangster" and probably his shining scene in a movie that was pretty much ass (Smoking Aces) Com's definitely carrying his SAG card cuz baby he's an actor. The man formerly known as Common Sense has upcoming roles in "Wanted" (which I guarantee will be a huge hit, ) next to one of the few white chicks whose walls I'd love to knock down (Angelina Jolie)and Hollywood's favorite second fiddle nigga (Morgan Freeman), and "Street Kings" (which I guarantee will be ass, but the hood will love it) next to one of the worst actors in the history of acting (uhh...dude, Keanu Reeves) and the only person less likely to be from the gang he claims than Lil Wayne (Butterfl....I mean Game). Com definitely has that Hollywood paper rolling in. With all the rumors flying around, who knows who he'll be spending some of it on for Valentine’s Day?
That's right, the ladies love cool Com. The only rapper to have felt Alicia Keys up in multiple videos, is also rumored to be tapping Serena Williams. Oh...she doesn't date black guys? Com's game must be on point. He has to have a mouth piece, remember he said on one album he was wondering how good Mary J's pussy must be, and then he got her to do a feature on the next album? Post-fucked up pants and Erykah's amazing womanly powers, Common is "rumored" to be hitting one of the nicest asses in the celebrity world. You can't hate on that fam...but did I mention he could rap?
Nobody is fucking with Com...no seriously. One of my favorite things about Common is how he attempts to subliminally bait rappers into a battle. Remember how he did Cube? He doesn't kill soloist, he only kills squads. Com did Westside Connection pretty bad...and I'm from the west coast. Com says shit often and you know exactly what and who he's talking about, but post Cube murdering, nobody wants to respond.
"With twelve monkeys on stage it's hard to tell who's a gorilla/you were better as a drug dealer"
-Common "Let's Start the Show"
Do you really believe 50 didn't know his buddy Kweli's (yea, I said it, 50's buddy Kweli) buddy Com tossed that jab at him? As much attention as he paid to Kanye, he has to have heard the music coming out of Ye's camp. He knows what the deal is though. He knows that would have been a horrible mistake. I've already stepped up and said Common is the best rapper of all time, whether you agree (probably not, cuz major media spots haven't said it yet, and of course sheep don't think for themselves...how else would B.I.G be the greatest of all time with two albums that both contained their fair share of garbage?) or not. However, if you don't, you can't place him far from the top, and apparently your favorite rapper has either acknowledged his skill, or doesn't want it with him...or maybe both.
Speaking of favorite rappers, one of my favorites...Murs, he puts together this little show, I don't know if you've heard about it, it's called "Paid Dues Festival". It's March 22nd and it'll feature Dilated Peoples, Little Brother, Hiero, Boot Camp Click, and several other dope acts. I'll be there, get your ticket now; it's definitely worth the $45. If you’re not out west...I pity the fool...nah, it'll probably come to your hometown eventually, and they’ll probably throw it on Rock the Bells like they did last year. Don't miss it.

As most of you know super Tuesday is today! History will be made for the democratic party. The final decision for who will rep the democrats comes down to an African American male, and a female. Who will you be rolling with? Me personally, I'm going with Obama. I'm not one of the many people who are supporting Obama just because he's black, but at the same time, I'm not one of the many black people NOT supporting Obama to avoid looking like I'm supporting him because he's black. I've heard politicians say the same shit, year in and year out, Obama brings something different to the table. He understands that partisan politics aren't in the best interest of the people, and was even able to acknowledge that one of the few positives Ronald Raegan did do was speak on certain issues Republicans and Democrats could agree on. Add in the fact he has a timeline for a complete exit out of Iraq, and along with other things and he has my support. Originally I just viewed Hillary as a hater, who had nothing to say but negative shit about Obama. Then, when I took the time to watch a debate, I seen I was pretty much right. When she wasn't saying negative shit about Obama, she just said shit I've heard from other people time and time again. Half of her attacks against Obama weren't even well researched. Don't think I expect Obama to get in office and create world peace, save the environment, lower the prices of gas, and get free college educations for everybody. Even if those were his intentions, the president is only so powereful. I just feel that out of the possible choices, dude is the best.
I reached out to some of the best in the game. I asked some people who make music that matters what they feel about Obama. I'm not gonna give out all the names of the people I reached out to, cuz I don't want to make it seem like I'm putting those who didn't respond on blast. It just so happens that two of my favorite emcees did respond however. When hollered at these cats I basically asked them if they thought Obama could win, do they support him, and what do they think about him overall. One of the cats that did respond was the one and only Saigon. In between punching rappers and push for the release of one of the most anticipated debut albums in awhile, he responded with this:
"Yes I think he can win if we go out and support him like we did Kerry against Bush. Also if the older "negroes" would stop hating on the younger brother coming so far in the race and choosing to support Hillary. I would definately vote for Obama because I believe he is genuine about what he says and he understands what us as black people need to at least live decent here in AmeriKKKa. He emphasizes the importance of education and I feel that may be our most important problem, lack of education. Knowledge is power, Peace."
Much respect to Sai for responding, it sincerly appreciated. I couldn't speak on Obama, who has talked about bringing "change" so frequently, without hollering at 1/2 of Self Scientific, Chace Infinate. For those that haven't heard the album "Change", due your self a favor and go pick that up. It's deifnately dope. Every time I see Obama and the word "Change" on his banners I think of Self Scientific. Here's what Chace had to say:
"First of all, I recognize that we are in an unique and strange place in American history. Never before has it been this obvious that the President and the Presidency is only a figurehead for the United States , Inc, carrying out the wishes of the real power,( The Federal Government). It almost seems like all of the conspiracy theories that brothers involved in the Golden Era rapped about, have come to , and are coming to pass. The Patriot Act was passed, The Towers/ Katrina set off the recession, real-estate has dropped, the dollar sucks, niggaz keep getting killed by the police i.e. Sean Bell and we are stuck in a war that nobody wants to be involved in. That being said, I am not surprised that as we move closer to Nostradamus' proposed 2012 doomsday, a black man is now being considered to lead the country and his competition? The only thing that the white power structure arguably respects less than niggaz...a white woman.
I, being a natural skeptic and a bit of conspiracy theorist myself believe that there is something somebody ain't telling us. Barak Hussein Obama? In a time when America's biggest enemy is/was, Sadddam HUSSEIN? hmmmm.....He was born in 1961 in Hawaii to a white mother and an African father? Not a nigga from Detroit but a authentic Kenyan? How many niggaz from KENYA was fucking with white women in Hawaii in 61'. Something is going on, my conspiracy antenna is glowing right now. I mean seriously, how did a Muslim, 42 years old, of African descent , named BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA, become a presidential canidate? maybe I dont really want to know the answer to that question.
That being said I am still pulling and voting for the brother because, of one reason....I'm hoping he is the spook that sat by the door, rather than the scapegoat America will use to turn the last corner in the race to finalize the New World Order. I agree with Brother Barak when he says we need Change, hell I wrote a whole album about that in 2005. I just don't know if he has he ability to usher in the type of Change we truly need. I don't think America is truly ready to embrace a black man as their leader unless he is leading a basketball team or rap department and even then he heavily scrutinized.
I don't understand niggaz like Bob and Magic Johnson not rollin' with Barak, regardless of your previous affiliations, you gotta roll with the niggaz. It's like going to jail and a riot breaks out, no matter what you fight with your kind, at that point all of your personal relationships and affiliations go out of the door. Sounds ignorant right?...real shit though.
Does he have the passion yes, does he have the education ..yes and does he seem to be in tune with the current youth movement affecting the world ..yes , but we still need CHANGE no matter who sits in that seat, and that Change starts with the self."
Much props to Chace and Khalil, once again go cop that "Change" and while your at it, get "The Self Science" and "Gods and Gangsters".
You guys make your own decisions. I'm just not feeling Hillary, if someone can tell me why someone should vote for her, without saying "Obama voted present a bunch of times"...please, do so. That's all people have been able to tell me, and even then their not saying why to vote for Hillary, there saying why NOT to vote for Obama. Either way it goes, I'm glad the attention this has brought to the primary, and I think from here on out, not only will we have more people voting, we'll have more people aspiring to become politicians. Now blacks and females can actually believe they REALLY have a chance of being President. Maybe the power will actually be in the hands of the people. That last one was probably just wishful thinking and I may have gone to far, however, with Bush leaving office, things are definately getting better. On that note, I'm out, I'll be back soon.
