Bitching, whining ass rappers...

Yea, I’m still alive. I’ve just been busy trying to get that job that will allow me to pay bills AND illegal bad habits (PLEASE let this be a real and good quality copy of the Simpsons movie…), and in California, that’s a pretty damn hard thing to do.  Last week I spent more time commenting on everyone else’s blogs as opposed to writing my own, but it’s looking like it’s about that time….

“Lookin like Larry Holmes flabby and sick, tryna playa hate on my shit? Eat a fat dick”
-2pac….or Makavelli or whatever he was calling himself at that time “Bomb First”

Rappers are really turning into divas. It seems like you every time I turn around, some rapper has something to say about someone else for reasons unknown. So, like I said on the little intro thing I do on every blog,  last week I checked everyone’s blogs and was dropping my little comments, but one in particular left me a little annoyed. It wasn’t the blog itself, or the blog writer, It was what the blog was about. J Burnett did a blog 2 weeks ago or so saying that “TI vs TIP” was an unoriginal concept, because Cassidy already did “Split Personality” , and Nelly did “Sweat/Suit” prior to T.I.’s album, and that besides the concept, there was nothing really that good about the album. True, true (well actually I did some research, while they did drop their albums first, TI did the whole personality argument battle thing on “Trap Muzik” with a track called “TI vs TIP”, which dropped August 19, 2003, Cassidy then dropped “Split Personality” March 16, 2004, and Nelly dropped “Shi…Sweat/Suit” September 14, 2004). So last week, he drops a blog saying that he called it, he knew Cassidy would respond. Huh? So I check the link out, and there’s a Cassidy freestyle. At the end of the freestyle, Cas says some shit like “On my Last album, I did a track with Cassidy the Hustler battling Cassidy the Problem, now everyone wanna battle themselves, that’s whack, be original” Huh? Now J Burnett’s argument was more on point, cuz those albums did drop first (although, like proven, TI started the whole thing with that track), but for Cassidy to say that he started it on his track on his last album, which came 2 or 3 years after T.I. did the track “TI vs TIP”…come on man. Do these dudes actually listen to hip hop, or do they go in the booth, throw some punch lines together, and then leave and act like this shit don’t exists? I could see if this was like Eminem or 50 cent, who may in their heads (and about 10 million other peoples minds) might think they’re too big to even recognize TI, but Cassidy? You’re not that big homie. The thing is though, I see right through it. Cassidy got a bad case of “I’m not hot, let me go diss someone who is”itis.  TI’s last album was Stephen Garbanowski  (garbage), but, if I remember right, so was both of Cassidy’s.  Dude ended up in the hospital before he could take advantage of his “I just beat a case” hype (ala Snoop Dogg), then couldn't record fast enough to take advantage of his “I just got out the hospital” hype (ala Kanye West) so he goes at TI. Lame. It’s funny how after Cassidy beat Freeway in that battle, when Cyssero and other dudes wanted to battle him, he wouldn’t do it. Now however, he quickly take jabs at TI. Like I said in J Burnett’s blog, Cassidy is the bully who’ll pick on the nerds but won’t mess with the jocks…what a bitch.

The thing is, dude isn’t the only one in Philly on that shit. Beanie Seigal...yea, that fat dude that was on Roc-a-Fella….what label is he on? Shit I don’t know…anywayz, yea, that dude, awhile back, dude goes at Kanye about his attire on some track that I can’t even remember (due to insignificance) saying he’s “half out the closet” than in an interview reiterates the point that he thinks Kanye (and Pharell) look gay and couldn’t walk down his block in Philly. Ok, so Ye gives dude the best beat he’s rapped over (“Nothing Like it” on Beans second album….the name says it all) and in return, he calls dude gay? So what dude couldn’t walk down his block dressed the way he is, a lot of people probably can’t walk down Beans block in Philly. Carmello Anthony couldn’t chill in the projects in L.A. without getting robbed, but you don’t see Game throwing disses at him(actually, now that I'm editing this, I think he did). Why not? Because Carmello Anthony isn’t the “hot” rapper/producer and Game isn’t the “I need some attention cuz nobody cares about me anymore” rapper (yet). I don’t want to hear anybody talking about the tracks Beans did before, or how street he is, Beans now holds MOP status, which basically means, nobody gives a fuck about him. Does anybody remember his last album? I got it…somewhere…I actually bought it, but I can’t tell you when it dropped, or where I have it at. Dude needs to leave the pills alone, and get to bagging groceries, cuz he’s reached the end of the line in this hip hop shit. He’s gonna go to war for Jay? They don’t allow the handicapped senior citizens in the Army, stop it.

Last but not least in the “I need some attention” world of hip hop….Clipse. Yea, so about a year and a half ago during the whole Gillie”who the fuck cares about me”the kid vs Lil”I just kissed a man” Wayne beef, Lil Wayne made a comment like “Clipse…who the fuck are they, Pharrell wore Bapes, ya’ll thought he was weird, I wear Bapes, ya’ll think it’s cool” Clipse responded with “What do you call a man that kisses another man in the mouth? A faggot” and then they started claiming Gillie as “they’re family” (it’s funny, cuz I never seen them bringing him to MTV interviews before…) So now, out of nowhere, the Clipse say “You can’t be a legend if you wobble dee wobble dee. You can’t be a legend if you dress like Jay Z one minute, then you dress like Clipse the next, then you dress like Jim Jones after that. You can’t sell drugs on your 5th album and be a legend,”…excuse me? When did Pusha and Malice become the experts on being a legend? Was it when they got dropped from Star Trek? Oh, they didn’t get dropped you say, they just left. Call it what you want, they don’t have the Neptunes production anymore, and realistically, that’s the difference between them and Jae Millz. Who’s Jae Millz you say? The dude that got ate up by the dude that had to walk to go get cheese cake. The dude that ended with a tie to Murder Mook…who’s Murder Mook? That dude that stands on that corner in Harlem saying he can rap and play basketball…oh, you don’t know him? Truthfully, neither do I, I’ve just seen him and Jae Millz a couple of times, they’re both nobodies, and now, without the Neptunes’ backing them, so are the Clipse. Stop fronting like you were excited to get “Hell Hath No Fury” or “Lord Willin” because of the Clipse rhymes, there’s a million mixtape rappers in NY that can talk about crack and flossing as good, if not better than Malice and Pusha, they just don’t have Pharell and Chad behind them.  Clipse spent their whole first album saying they weren’t rappers, but now they’re trying to comment on what it takes to be a “legendary” rapper? Sorry fam, I’m guessing you can’t be a legend with song titles like “Ma I don’t love her” or “Wamp Wamp” either…but hey, that’s just my opinion.

This is the real problem. If you spend your time trying to be the “hot” rapper, spitting “hot” punchlines, rolling with the “hot” label, rapping over the “hot” production, you have to realize, heat cools. Eventually, you’ll cool off, and someone else will be “hot”, that’s why I’d much rather aspire to be “great” than “hot”. On that note, I’m out.
