Bake Up Boyz

April 23rd, 2008 | Author: Quinton Hatfield

What makes a good cook is a distinctive and unique recipe. In the case of music the Detroit Hip Hop scene, the yeast is on the rise as the Bake Up Boyz will continue to keep feeding the streets. Bub, Dirt The Hustler, Loot 75, and Young Gino. Each and every individual brings their own abilities and swagger to the game that unifies them as a group. It’s all love between the them and now the grind is all coming together. With some rugged street lyrics and down south appeal, that Dayton Family type of Michigan rap may be attempting a return.

Currently known for their single with Jim Jones “Now I Can Do That”, they have shown why there is no “I” in team. They're Fresh Out The Kitchen, due this spring with some major label distribution, the recipes might soon be franchised. One half of of the group, members Bub and Loot 75 gets down with DXnext on why the meals will keep coming .

What The Bake Up Boyz Are Actually Cooking: Bub says “We're going to cook up real reality music, real street music that’s what the music is reality."

How Challenging The Recipe Is: "It’s all in what you bring to the table man. We have talent and once you got that it’s not hard, but to keep it out there."

Detroit As A 'Crabs In The Barrel' City: "We can’t worry about that, we got to do our job, they gave us motivation." Loot speaks his mind on the situation, “Man the haters are on my side, they got my name in they mouth man, I support them, they saying fuck me, but that’s why they love me.” Bub further elaborates in the haters stating, “Everybody is going to have something to say when you doing something for yourself.”

Detroit’s 'Real' Music Industry: "Detroit is street ran, Detroit is what it is man it’s ran by the street and it’s hard to take that into the other man," says Loot. "That’s what the world is loving right now, but you can only go so far with it. You're going to hear good music from us, because Detroit is us. They are us so how can you hate what is you, how can you hate yourself."

Why Family-Oriented Music Matters Most: Bub
says, “Everybody is like brothers, though we are going to fight, we gonna make up at the end of the day and do something better. It ain’t nothing but love around here. We actually got a real team over here, man, were not a music biz put together group. Music didn’t bring us together, the streets brought us together."

The Individuality Within Each Member: "Loot is the streets in a combined package, he is the Chef Boyardee of the game, Loot 75 came from jail so he knows nothing, but loyalty. He’s going to be real harsh and gutter for you. Gino is the youngblood of the bunch, he gonna direct you with the young crowd, the Lil Webbie. Dirt Da Hustler his names says it all “Dirt Da Hustler.” He gonna talk that hustle, walk that hustle, and do the hustle. Bub, I’m a give to you however you need it I’m a serve it to you. Whatever you want, I got it."

The Single “Now I Can Do That” And Its Meaning: "We can do everything thing now that we got some money. That’s a song for everybody, you get a check, now you can do that, you just bought a house, now you can do that, put some furniture in it - anything. If you wasn’t able to do it before and now you can, that’s the song for you. We got the new single with Rick Ross so it ain’t no sense of hating now, because now we can do that," Bub says with a chuckle.

On Working With Jim Jones: "He just got down and it was some of the hottest shit I heard from him period and like he said if he fuckin' with you, he fucking with you. That’s what it is with Jimmy."

On Side Hustles: "We're not just rappers, we're business man, so we got it down pack."

Why They Expect Longevity:
"Fans support and how they will maintain longevity: We're going to maintain longevity by consistency," says Loot. Bub then hops in to add, “The album is fully loaded with good music. We're gonna drop single after single, and album after album."

Why We Should Care:
As they said over and over again they are like family. They were friends before music as the streets of Detroit brought them together. A lot of groups in this music business are put together, but in the case of the Bake Up Boyz, blood is thicker than water.
