Mr. Smith Goes To Court

August 14th, 2001 | Author:

Four of the hip-hop masters of the Furious Five are presently not impressed with LL as they say his 1997 smash single "4, 3, 2, 1," was used as a sample from their 1979 hit "Superappin" without permission. The Furious Five have a similar lawsuit against Will Smith for copyright infringement of the same track on his 1999 "Willennium" release.

"4, 3, 2, 1," is a very significant single in Hip Hop as it marks the beginning of the Canibus/LLCoolJ wars. Let’s just hope that LL is not forced into the same situation as Rawkus was with the Simon Say’s Single.
