Construction begins on Tupac Shakur Arts Centre

August 24th, 2001 | Author:

Construction began a few days ago on the Tupac Amaru Center for Arts in Stone Mountain, Georgia, where the Shakur family has lived for the past 10 years.

The center is being built to honor the memory of the late rapper/ activist/ poet/ actor Tupac Amaru Shakur. Tupac was killed in September 1996 in Las Vegas, on a night that will live on forever in hip-hop infamy. His murder is still unsolved.

The new memorial centre will feature an art gallery, a performing arts studio, and a garden dedicated to Tupac. The centre is expected to open in 2003, and the first show at the gallery will display art by Tupac's fans.
