Diddy's "Raisin in the Sun" Nominated For Two Emmys

With the exception of a few occasions, the Emmy Awards have always been a decidedly non Hip Hop affair. But, after breaking ratings records for a TV broadcast of an original movie [click to read], the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced A Raisin in the Sun has been nominated for three of its prestigious awards.

A Raisin in the Sun, which Diddy executive produced and starred in as Walter Lee Younger, will compete with Bernard And Doris, Extras, The Memory Keeper's Daughter and Recount for the Best Made-For-TV Movie award when the 60th annual Emmy Awards air on Sept. 21 in Los Angeles. Phylicia Rashad and Audra McDonald were also respectively nominated as Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress in the Miniseries or Movie category.

Noticeably absent from this year's Emmy nominations was The Wire. The HBO series enjoyed solid ratings and an audience which ranged from professional critics to Hip Hop junkies, but was snubbed in its final season on the air.
