After spending the last nine years on their successful hip-hop inspired clothing line, as well as branching out into jewellery and footwear, the Fubu quadruplets have finally decided to make the move into hip-hop music.
By inking a deal with Universal records, FB Entertainment was born and their first release is a collective album called The GoodLife.
The 19-track opus features a collection of stars from the world of hip-hop, R&B and reggae. And they all blend together quite well.
Artists such as Nas, Erick Sermon, Joe, India.Arie, Fubu representer LL Cool J and current 'get around' celebrity Nate Dogg all shine through, as well as members of new crew 54th Platoon, Amazin, Drunken Master and Lola Damone.
The first release from the album was the summer surprise track 50 Ni**as deep by Drunken Master featuring Lola Damone. Other tracks include Good Life JS of 54th Platoon, Nas and Nate Dogg, who blows up the spot with his singing/rapping style. Bad Man Bizness by Beenie Man is a perfect mix of dirty south beats and ‘de gal dem sugahs’ island flow. And with India.Arie's Video remix with Supercat as well as hits by Joe, Connie Mckendrick, and ex-En Vogue starlet Dawn Robinson rounding off the album with Set It Off, which should prepare the world for her solo effort.
The album is a good compilation, hitting all bases with the Fatty Girl single by Ludacris, LL and Keith Murray banging radio and clubs. And although the album doesn't come with the most thought provoking lyrics, it shows the hip-hop world that Fubu is ready to make another mark on the music world.
