Common is looking to land a role in the Spider-Verse series — and believes he has not only the acting chops but the physical attributes to back it up.

The Chicago rap veteran posted a video on Instagram on Monday (January 22) showing him doing multiple “Spider-Man push ups” during an appearance on NBC’s Today With Hoda & Jenna.

The MC wrote in his post: “Tell ‘em to put me in the Spider-Verse,” before adding: “How many Spider-Man Push Ups you got?”

Common stopped by the show to promote his new book, And Then We Rise: A Guide to Loving and Taking Care of Self, which is set to be released on Tuesday (January 23).

The “Go!” rapper wouldn’t be the first Hip Hop figure to join the Spider-Verse. Metro Boomin curated the soundtrack for 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and also had a brief cameo in the movie.

The super producer recruited a star-studded cast for the project including Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Nas, 21 Savage, Lil Wayne, A$AP Rocky, Offset, 2 Chainz, Swae Lee, JID, Coi Leray, Wizkid, James Blake and more.

Donald Glover has also been a part of the movie franchise, starring as Aaron Davis in Across the Spider-Verse.

Common first announced his new book back in October. The rapper/actor explained that the book will feature tips on health and wellness in all aspects — not just physical health but mental, emotional and spiritual health as well.

The title also appears to pay homage to the late Maya Angelou’s poem “Still I Rise,” which he has often cited as a huge source of inspiration.

“Exciting news, fam! I’ve got a new book coming in January 2024 called And Then We Rise,” he wrote on social media. “It’s all about health and wellness, inspired by the tough times we all experienced together a few years ago when everyone was thinking about staying healthy.

“I started sharing my journey on Instagram – working out and sharing healthy food recipes – and folks started asking for advice. So, I decided to put it all in a book to spread some good energy and love, especially in my communities.”

He continued: “This book covers it all: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. It’s got my journey, from diet changes to workouts and even therapy for my mind and soul. Remember, small changes can make a big difference. You don’t have to go from zero to a hundred. Find what works for you, fam, and you’ll be a better you.”
