The 100-round shooting that apparently involved rapper Young Dolph‘s SUV last month in Charlotte, N.C. is still shrouded in mystery. While the Memphis rapper remains mostly silent about details surrounding the February 25 shooting, police say they are nearing arrests in the case.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say they’ve made some connections in their investigation but are still withholding information until the actual arrests have been made. Further, the CMPD has not confirmed if they’ve spoken with Young Dolph in relation to the shooting that took place in the city’s Uptown section.
“I am fully confident in some sort of progress that we can share with you shortly,” said Deputy Chief Jeff Estes at a briefing by CMPD, as reported by local NBC affiliate WCNC.

WCNC adds that detectives will typically speak to anyone related to the shooting but stopped short of confirming a meeting with Dolph.
The Gelato artist has been vague about the incident, which took place over a celebrity-filled weekend for the CIAA basketball tournament.
Last week on TMZ’s “Raq Rants,” Dolph evaded questions about the incident before simply stating that he couldn’t discuss the matter further.

This hasn’t stopped Dolph from milking the moment, leading into his upcoming second studio album, Bulletproof, slated for an April 1 release. The project’s cover art, as well as song titles announced for the project such as “100 Shots,” “In Charlotte,” and “but im bulletproof,” seem to be direct nods to the alleged attempt on his life.
WCNC added in their report that some local DJs felt the shooting might have been a publicity stunt.
