Atlanta, GA

After a group of black patrons was denied service at the Atlanta restaurant Houston’s, a video of the incident went viral.

T.I. was one of the first to respond and he thoroughly documented his actions on social media over the weekend.

The Atlanta rap titan first shared a post on Instagram calling for a boycott against Houston’s Lenox location for “recent acts of racial profiling.”

He then uploaded video of himself and a group of protesters in front of the establishment.

“We’re closing Houston’s down for the moment,” T.I. said in a video uploaded on Saturday (October 7). “Indefinitely. When they figure out how to treat us, they can open back up.”

“This is nothing new,” he wrote in the caption. “Just wanna show support to all the people who’ve ever felt profiled or discriminated against at this establishment. WE WILL NOT accept this in our city. You may not care for US personally… BUT U WILL RESPECT THE POWER OF OUR DOLLAR!!!!”

The Instagram account for Houston’s seems to have pulled a post-and-delete with its statement on the matter, although it was captured by Baller Alert. It touched primarily on the restaurant’s seating policy and claimed the restaurant was unable to seat large groups.

Houston’s In Atlanta Responds to Backlash for Discrimination and Racial Profiling – blogged by @peachkyss (swipe) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Houston’s in Atlanta has responded to discriminatory claims. The restaurant was in hot water after discriminating and refusing to sit a group of 7. When asked to just sit four in a different section with a different waiter, the restaurant still refused. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The restaurant claims that they do not sit large parties but photos have surfaced of Houston’s doing so. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On Saturday, many gathered outside of the restaurant, including #TI and #Tiny, to protest against the company for their unfair treatment against African Americans. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Many celebs have came forward about the restaurant’s racial profiling, including #ToyaWright and #RickRoss. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (Images/ videos via @mrjaymorrison)
