Nicki Minaj is crediting her entry into Canada this week to its most famous resident: her old friend Drake.

The Young Money rapper was almost three hours late for her concert in Montreal on Wednesday (April 17) as her Pink Friday 2 Tour traveled north of the border.

Nicki blamed a series of flight delays on a “sabotage” attempt that she theorized was tied to authorities looking for her husband, Kenneth Petty, who had only been granted permission to travel internationally the day prior.

On Thursday (April 18), Minaj elaborated on the situation, thanking Drake for coming to her rescue.

“Drizzy he made a couple calls for me,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories.

Drake himself appeared in the audience at Nicki’s show in Toronto that same night, with the Pink Friday 2 star shouting him out from the stage.

Nicki Minaj’s explanation for her border issues were originally laid out in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter).

“Yesterday my flight scheduled for midnight shut their plane down @ 12:58pm. Never in 15 years have I heard of anything like that. A 70K G4 and thought we were going to PAY THEM for that flight as well as whatever flight I’d have to get on next. They thought wrong,” she wrote.

“Today, we asked if we could leave at 1pm. They said no, we could leave at 3pm. Then they said that won’t work, we’d need to leave at 5pm. ?!?!!!!! Yup. For a 930pm show in Canada. When we got to the plane, they then said they were ‘STILL FUELING’. At 630pm, they said they were ‘still fueling’ (for an hour & a half flight).”

Nicki then accused the delays of being part of a conspiracy to hinder her tour: “When we did get to Canada, they did a bunch of stuff they didn’t do the last 2 times I came for the OVO FEST. They started searching through my personal purses. Usually they take me to the car with my purses & check the bigger luggage.

The “Super Freaky Girl” hitmaker then bragged about the success of the show: “Like I SAID. A MAGICAL F&$!NG SHOW!!!!!!!!!!! #GagCityMontreal was ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nicki concluded her rant by putting the blame for her lateness on authorities looking for Kenneth Petty, who likely can’t enter Canada because of his sex offender status.

“My husband has been on the entire tour btw they prob thought he was tryna come to the Montreal show. LMFAOOOOO. They wanted a moment 4 life. I love being the prettiest, smartest, most talented MAIN character on earth,” she wrote.

Petty’s sex offender status stems from a 1995 conviction for the first-degree attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl, for which he spent four years in prison.

He was later given three years’ probation and one year house detention after failing to register as a sex offender in California, where he and Nicki moved in 2019 before getting married.
