Grammy Award-nominated rapper Vic Mensa has rolled through with a new freestyle titled “Heathens,” which finds the Chicago native digging deep to pull out some of his most private thoughts.

“At times I feel guilt for being the boy who lived/I could have been the one with that knife inside my ribs/I guess God had bigger plans for the kid when I woke up still alive on that hospital bed,” he spits with nothing but brutal honesty. Mensa delivers it in such a way that it’s easy to identify with his pain.

For “Heathens,” Mensa taps into theSuicide Squad soundtrack and adds his powerful vocals to the Twenty One Pilots’ contribution “Heathens.” Check it out above and read about his #NoDAPL protests here.
