HipHopDX Premiere: Tommy Boy Records’ Funkontrol — Skinny Friedman and DJ/producer Scott Melker — has surfaced with a bumping new single, “Wake Up In The Morning,” which is the duo’s ode to the infamous morning smoke session, the “Wake-N-Bake.”
“This is actually one of the first tracks we did,” Funkontrol tells HipHopDX. “It’s like two years old, but the fact that it’s been working in sets for both of us the entire time was something that made us feel like we really had some ideas worth pursuing. Plus, who doesn’t love a good Wake-n-Bake?”
“Wake Up In The Morning” follows “Bankers Club,” the lead single from Funkontrol’s debut album, Are We Having Fun Yet?, which is expected sometime this summer. Check out the new track above and grab the free download here.
