Acclaimed director Lee Daniels has given his own hit FOX show, Empire, some friendly competition with the upcoming release of Star. The adjacent music industry-based series chronicles aspiring professional singer Star Davis (Jude Demorest) as she gets a crash course on what it takes to break a career in the business.
Veteran actor Benjamin Bratt (Law & Order, Doctor Strange, Ride Along 2) stars as a character who’s very instrumental in overseeing that business: Jahlil Rivera, the talent manager who’s down on his luck but eventually discovers Star.
In this exclusive FOX Star clip, Bratt, Daniels and Queen Latifah (who was also as Carlotta Brown; a close friend of Star’s late mother) break down the multilayered complexity of Rivera’s character makeup and how it will affect the show.
