HipHopDX Premiere: St. Louis rapper Doughboy knows what it’s like to have nothing, but in his new video for “Way Up,” the 26-year-old also illustrates that he knows how to persevere and survive the choppy waters.

“The record is really a positive record. I made the record at a time when I was finally getting back to being myself. Weeks or even days before I wrote the record, I was flat broke; like had no money to even buy food type broke. And at that time, I knew I had to get up and get it. I’m not rich at the moment, but definitely not at the point I was at before. Now, I feel way up.”

Doughboy plans on releasing a new EP in June, which follows songs like “Poppin'” with Rich The Kid and “Kilo” with Lil Durk. Watch the VickMontFilms-directed video above.
